According to the Carvellwallance“Black panther” was first major movie with Black superhero.In all previous movies actor’s blackness seemed incidental while “Black Panther,” by contrast, is steeped very specifically and purposefully in its blackness. The film with centered black people that has no black pain, and black suffering, and black poverty which were the usual topics ofprevious movies. 2. What, according to Wallace, is the symbolic function of the fictional nation of Wakanda for black audiences? A place where black people can grow wildly powerful and technologically advanced.A place that’s been in the hearts and minds and spirits of black people obviously not inchains, is the symbolic function of the fictional nation of Wakanda for black audiences. 3. What does the term Afrofuturism mean? And besides Black Panther, what are some examples of Afrofutursim mentioned by Wallace? The artistic movement called Afrofuturism, a decidedly black creation, which mean is to go far beyond the limitations of the white imagination.Besides Black Panther, some examples of Afrofutursim are in the form of literature written by written by Haley&Sun Ra, music of Jamila Woods & Janelle Monáe and art Krista Franklin &Ytasha Womack. 4. Wallace mentions a television series from the 1970s called Roots. Why,in Wallace's opinion, was this an important series for both black and white viewers? In Wallance opinion television series Roots was important for both Black and White because at one end for black people this TV series claim fora home and black people must honor America land while at other end Roots can bring some change in opportunities, some new standing in American culture which is not possible without White people help. 5. Wallace concludes his essay by posing "an important question: what will black people bring to Black Panther" (p.132). How does he answer this question? Wallance answer this question through defining his view for Black with White people. He gives the way that both should hold one another as a family because we must be a family in order to survive.
