Project Description Title: Greek Mythology Description: You and your group will each research a particular Greek god or goddess. Using numerous forms of technology and rotating to different centers, you will learn about your god/goddess. At the end of the activity, you and your group will present the material to the rest of your class. You will have a PowerPoint presentation with a video, scanned images, a self- made drawing, and as much information as you can find on your god/goddess. To complete this project, you will be going to six centers: Model Station, Video Station, Online Scavenger Hunt, Scanner Station, Microsoft Paint, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Model Station: Your group will be using play-do to create a symbol for your Greek god/goddess. It needs to correctly symbolize your god/goddess. Video Station: Using the props provided, your group will need to create a 2-3 minute video on your god/goddess. This needs to include information about what their domain was, any symbols they may have had, etc. Online Scavenger Hunt: Your group will be given an activity sheet where, using only the approved websites, you will find more about your god/goddess. Scanner Station: Your group will use this station to scan any images found in the library. Microsoft Paint: Your group needs to draw a picture or symbol of your Greek god/goddess. This will be used in your PowerPoint. Microsoft PowerPoint: Your group will be using PowerPoint to bring everything together, which will be presented at the end of the activity.

Day 1 The students will be put into groups of 3. They will be assigned a god from the following list to research: Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Aphrodite, Athena, Ares and Hera. Groups and gods assigned will be put on a piece of paper, with a copy posted on the wall. The class will then go to the library to check out a book. They will then begin their research. When we return from the library, each group will be assigned a flash drive. They will be instructed to label it with the name of their god and the class period. They will be given a folder with their god’s name and class period on it to put all completed work in. Days 2- I will set up the centers and provide copies of the rotation schedule, with one posted on the wall in the classroom. Each group will go to their station and follow the instructions provided. They will get approximately 20 minutes at each station. After 20 minutes a whistle will blow, informing the students to prepare to move to the next station. This will provide enough time for two stations per day. The power point station is two sessions. Before the students can move to their new station they have to check their work area and make sure it is clean and orderly for the next group. If they forget the god they are assigned or the group they are with they will be instructed to check the list on the wall. Day 5 The students will go to their last station. After 20 minutes, they will then check their project for completeness. If things are missing they will be given a little extra time at that station to make any necessary improvements. Each day, I will be walking around making sure the instructions for each station are clear. I will also make sure the students are doing what has been assigned, giving suggestions when needed. At the end of each class I will instruct each group to put their flash drives and folders in the proper place. Day 6 I will ask for volunteers to go first to present their projects. I will use the rubric to evaluate the students on their project. They will be given 3-6 minutes to for their presentation. The students will be instructed to take notes about the other gods because they will be responsible for knowing this information. Suggest they look for the same information they had to find for the worksheet. After each presentation, I will summarize what I expect the students to know about each god, especially if a group left out important information.
