III. Statement of Course Need
Silkscreen is an important printmaking process that can be used by itself or in
conjunction with the other printmaking processes such as monoprinting and
lithography. As with the other printmaking processes, silkscreen incorporates
skills learned in all the foundation art courses and would allow students to
develop and expand on aesthetic ideas from previous courses. This course is
offered in many college art programs and could serve as an entry level course for
students who would like to continue at places such as Rutgers University where
they have extensive course offerings in printmaking and the Center for Innovative
Printmaking.
