Joe Hermenet Public Presentations Nov. 1, 2010 Persuasive Audience Analysis Health Care Reform The Health Care Reform has been one of the most debated topics within not only the United State government but also the people. We all can say that there is defiantly changes that need to be made in our nation. The majority of the audience al agrees with the new bill that was just passed but the thing is, the majority of the audience said they do not know very much about what is actually in the bill. I think this topic will be very enticing to the majority of the audience because like I said they said they do not know very much about it and I think it’s right for everyone to know certain details of the bill that could sometimes go unnoticed. There are many positives and negatives throughout the whole bill but it’s a matter of everyone getting a better grip and understanding rather than just listening to the media and agreeing on just what they hear rather than what they know. I hope in my speech of actuation that I am able to educate people on what is in the bill that they may not know and change some people’s opinions that the bill needs change rather than just leaving it as it is. Generally with universal health care it is just going to make E.R.s and other doctor offices even more crowded because of all the people who just go in because they feel sick rather than the people who are seriously injured and other things of that sort. In the surveys the majority of the people said they are more willing to wait longer but that why I want to inform them of the different parts of the bill. Most of the people said they are willing to give up more taxes to pay for others but I would assume those people don’t understand how much tax they are talking about since none of the students have real paying jobs. It surprised me by how many people said they don’t know when I asked what they think of Obama’s plan which made
me really excited for this speech because I will get a chance to inform them of so they have a better understanding of the bill. A lot of the people thing it will have a negative affect which I think it will if we don’t change it a little bit so that I can most defiantly have a positive effect in the long run. My target audience would be a group of college kid who some know a lot about this health care plan but at the same time inform them of some of the things they do not know. The audience is kind of split though because some have different political views on topics such as this. When giving this speech I don’t want to be too one sided because that is not fair I think everyone has very valid opinions that is why I kind of want to have various views on this topic when giving the speech. I knew some about this topic from just always talking to my stepdad but now after putting in so much research time I have almost a totally different view on the bill and I know that our country defiantly needs change its just a matter of how. I want to reach out and make sure I give each person in the audience something they want to hear. Also, I want to change some opinions of the bill, but at the same time I don’t believe there is one right or wrong way it’s just a matter of everyone having a better understanding. There are so many aspects of this topics that I still have little understanding of, but I know enough to make me feel comfortable to say what things I think should be changed. The different information I found in my research will be really the only back-up I have in my speech because all the rest I have is just word of mouth.
