Alternate Assignment 92
1. What big points did I make in class about the First Persian Gulf War in 1991?
- The main points made about the First Persian Gulf War is that this was the first out
many wars happened at this time. At first, President George H.W Bush lead multiple
coalition against Iraq in 1991 following its invasion of Kuwait in 1990. In 1990, Iraq
has felt frustration about Kuwait about the exceeding amount of crude oil thus having
exceeding prices of that outcome. So, by the end of 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait but as
President Bush came to play, he worked with the U.N to build coalitions, and to bring
in Russia as it was partners with Iraq to bring a step back on the invasion of Kuwait.
2. What big points did I make in class about events in the Iraq War in 2003?
- With the event of 9/11, George W. Bush administration in theory that alongside with
the U.K also that Saddam Hussein. Was behind the 9/11 attacks. Upon intelligence that
is put upon President Bush’s administrations that Hussein had been involved in
supporting 9/11 attacks and building weapons of mass destructions were proved
wrong. Bush was embarrassed and regretted in that time and moment. So, the, many
nations that rejected the Bush administration to go to war in Iraq because they didn’t
believe in the intelligence, they were right about that. The result, America has this
stance on having this is that troops must engage in years of a problem/enemies that
will never back down because that is how it naturally flows. The casualties mount
high, and prices rise, with that goes to surrender but with what you’ve built over the
past year collapses.
3. What big points did I make in class about the cost of the war in terms of wounded and
killed soldiers and civilians and the financial costs of the war?
- With the idea of the War success that Bush had imagined it to be, in the beginning
there was backlashes of ideas of the invasion of Iraq. On one hand there was some
confusion about what really happened, and that evidence is not adding up with the war
that ties with Saddam Hussein, and the other lots of American support. With having
secure military victory, it made it complicated to which U.S can exit the country after
removing one country’s government. In which made to have the U.s try to create a
government out of nothing after no Hussein’s power no more. Casualties take place at
this point where 4,500 military deaths and 32,000 wounded between 2003-2010. And
in all there is a financial cost prior to the war where Donald Rumsfeld estimated to 50
billion dollars.
