darkening of the areolas; frequent urination; and
overpowering sleepiness.

Probable Signs
DEFINITION 2
Signs detected by the examining phy sician that indicate
pregnancy is probably.. These include a positive pregnancy test;
darkening of vaginal tissues and of ce rvical mucous membranes;
softening of the cervical tissue; enlar gement of the abdomen and
uterus; mapping of the fetal outline m anually; intermittent
contractions of the uterus; and an in crease in the basal body
temerature.

Signs of pregnancy detected by the physician that indicate
positively that the women is pregnant. these include feeling
the fetus move; hearing the fetal heartbeat; getting
electrical tracing of the fetal heart, detecting a doubling of
HCG leavels; mapping the fetal outline by means of
ultrasound; and detecting the fetal skeleton by x-ray.

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG)
DEFINITION 4
A hormone produced by the placenta that, if present in the
mother's blood or urine, is an indication of pregnancy.

Naegele's Formula
DEFINITION 5
A method of calculating the expected date of birth by
subtracting 3 months from the first day of the last period and
adding 7 days.

DEFINITION 24 Method of postpartum care in which the mother andfather care for their newborn themselves in an area of the hopital assigned to them.
