To: The American People
From:
Date: 15th March, 2021
Subject: Unity in the Fight Against Drug Abuse
Introduction
The increased use of drug abuse in Idaho and also in the entire United States is a cause
for alarm. It is a worrying trend needs to be addressed as soon and as quickly as possible. Drug
abuse is a menace to society and your future. This is the message that we should be sending
across to all the people out there.
Why Drugs are so much Today
A lot of things are contributing to this increased use of drugs both on a national level and
even in the family. One such factor can be said to be impulsiveness among young people. As
Perry suggests in her work, “Background Impulsivity is a multifaceted construct that has recently
been recognized as a factor contributing to enhanced vulnerability to drug abuse”
Low self-esteem and feelings of rejection are also the main causes of drug abuse. Many
of the kids growing up today are suffering a lot from their relationships at home and with their
peers. Since most parents are usually unavailable to cater to their children’s needs emotionally,
these kids end up having self-esteem and depression issues. For such kids, they turn to drug
abuse as a solution to their emotional problems since it will help them forget everything else

Memorandum To: The American People From: Date: 15 th^ March, 2021 Subject: Unity in the Fight Against Drug Abuse Introduction The increased use of drug abuse in Idaho and also in the entire United States is a cause for alarm. It is a worrying trend needs to be addressed as soon and as quickly as possible. Drug abuse is a menace to society and your future. This is the message that we should be sending across to all the people out there. Why Drugs are so much Today A lot of things are contributing to this increased use of drugs both on a national level and even in the family. One such factor can be said to be impulsiveness among young people. As Perry suggests in her work, “Background Impulsivity is a multifaceted construct that has recently been recognized as a factor contributing to enhanced vulnerability to drug abuse” Low self-esteem and feelings of rejection are also the main causes of drug abuse. Many of the kids growing up today are suffering a lot from their relationships at home and with their peers. although temporarily. Slowly by slowly, this ends up becoming an addiction since they will always look for drugs whenever such an issue arises. There are many negative consequences, not to just the individual but also to the whole community. To the individuals themselves, drug use poses many health risks. Some of them include impairments, illnesses, mental disorders, and even death. The children who start using drugs are seen to drop off in their performances in school while also seen to be experiencing very poor judgments in most of the things that they are doing including social interactions with other people. The social and economic consequences of drug abuse are also major. Drugs are expensive and may result in financial loses not just to the individual but also to the family. This is because those using drugs may end up being dependent on other family members for things such as rehabilitation and treatment and thus becoming a burden to everyone. To such families, it may leave them in crises while also jeopardizing many aspects of that family. The focus should also be placed on those who are already drug addicts and how we can help them. They are not wasted yet and they can still be helped become useful people in society. There are many ways to help people who have already involved themselves in drug abuse.” Another important form of helping solve the drug problem stems from the parents themselves. It is up to the parents themselves to have talks with their children and seek their views on why they are using drugs. Such talks should be calm and assuring to the child with an aim of helping them rather than commanding lectures where even the child may fear telling the truth. The parents can then now focus on now explaining to the kid the effects of using drugs and how it can affect them even in the future. The parents should make sure that they avoid using

There should be a realization that there lies a problem in the form of drug abuse. Once we all realize that this is a problem that is affecting everyone in the society even those not directly, then we will be motivated to put in the extra effort required to help solve this problem. It is the combined efforts of all parties involved starting with the individuals themselves, parents, the government, media, and the whole society at large. Once efforts are done together, it is easy and fast to eradicate drug abuse in society.
